Dallam have been running highly successful caving courses for many years and have a good reputation as a provider of courses that are well-delivered, relevant and informative. The courses are governed by the British Caving Association (BCA) and are the industry standard for enthusiasts, outdoor activity instructors or anyone wishing to lead groups of cavers.

    1. BCA Local Cave and Mine Leader Level 1 Training

    3. Price: £180
    4. This British Caving Association (BCA) course is the first step on the instructional ladder. Holders of this award have been assessed as competent to lead others in a number of caves using simple ropework, if necessary. The list of caves is personal to each individual and is agreed with the assessor. The training course comprises 2½ days of practical and theoretical input which will be run as far as possible in line with Dallam’s strong experiential, student centred ethos.

    4. This British Caving Association (BCA) course is the second step on the instructional ladder. Holders of this award have been assessed as competent to lead others in a restricted number of caves with simple pitches up to 18m in depth. The list of caves is personal to each individual and is agreed at assessment. The basic qualification covers appropriate rigging, ladder usage, safety lines, group abseiling and rescue techniques. Individuals may additionally opt to include Single Rope Technique (SRT) use for the leader. The training course comprises 2½ days of practical and theoretical input which will be run as far as possible in line with Dallam’s strong experiential ethos.
