Outdoor Education and Experiential Learning... For All
Dallam have been successfully running academic courses for many years and are proud of their reputation as providers of highly practical and student-centred programmes. Our unique 'Get Ahead in the Outdoors' scheme has been developed to meet your needs as an aspiring outdoor practitioner. We also have courses available to students of Sixth Form age who are able to enrol into the school's sixth form. Please see below for details of our provision for 2010-11.
Some students may wish to combine their studies with our Instructor Development programme - the ideal ticket to employment. Walk away with up to 8 National Governing Body Award training or assessments and lots of valuable work experience, or apply for our Apprentice programme and really kick start your career.
If you are interested in any of the courses below please read the detailed course information and then phone the office to make an appointment. The course tutor will meet you to answer any questions you have and, if appropriate, complete the enrolment paperwork with you. We hope to hear from you soon!

Personal Development in the Outdoors

- Build your skills, knowledge and experience of all elements of the outdoors!
This course runs over two days per week from the end of September to the end of May and has a huge amount of practical content - about 75%.
This course is ideal for anyone over 16 who is interested in a career in the outdoor industry, for personal development, to improve outdoor qualifications, or for recreation as part of a lifestyle change. You can study this course for just one year or progress to Year 2. No previous experience is necessary. - Course start date: 23rd September 2010

Outdoor Practitioner Training Scheme

- Ages 16+
- Course price: £690 (please check your eligibility for discount)
- Our Training Scheme is a follow on to the Personal Development in the Outdoors programme although some students with considerable experience may join this programme directly.
This course will encourage and help you to advance your skills, knowledge and experience with the aim of becoming a well rounded and well respected Outdoor Practitioner. The course takes place over two days per week and has a massive practical content of around 75%.
This programme is recommended for those seriously working towards a career in outdoor education, either in an academic or practical vocation.

Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Sport (Outdoor Education)

- Course price: £95
- Are you 16-19 years old and looking for a highly practical course to complement your A-Levels? This could be just what you're looking for:
* 75% practical - lots of canoeing, kayaking, caving, climbing and expeditions
* Assessed by coursework - no exams!
* Earn UCAS points up to the equivalent of 3 A Levels
* Entry Requirements: 4 GCSE grade C's

Eligibility for Discounts:
If you
can claim any of the following concessions or are in receipt of any of the following benefits you will be entitled to a discount on your fees. You must pay the Certificate Fee for your course but will not have to pay the Course Fee. All BTEC students are entitled to a discount as they are between the ages of 16 - 19 and this discount is included in the advertised course cost. Eligible students will only be liable to pay £295 towards their course.
You are entitled to a discount if you are claiming any of the following:

Housing Benefit
Council Tax Benefit
Or if:
You are 16-19 years old
