The awards for climbing and mountaineering are governed by the Mountain Leader Training Board and are the industry standards for outdoor activity instructors or anyone wishing to lead groups in mountain environments. Dallam have been running popular and well received ML and SPA courses for years; we hope you decide to do your training and/or assessment with us.
- Single Pitch Award Training
- Ages 18+
- Course price: £140
- The Single Pitch Award is the appropriate qualification for those wishing to lead and coach
rock climbing on simple, single pitch crags in nonremote locations and on artificial climbing walls. It is universally accepted by outdoor activity providers across the UK and Ireland for this type of work.
The course will assess your current knowledge and abilities and cover the SPA syllabus
including:
¨ Climbing wall use both personally and with groups
¨ Access and conservation in the outdoors
¨ Crag Etiquette
¨ Group management at climbing venues
¨ Personal climbing – including leading at up to Severe standard
¨ Solution of single pitch crag problems
¨ Organisation of group climbing including anchor selection, equipment choice and use,
top and bottom roping, belaying, bouldering and abseiling.
