About Us

Dallam is located 5 miles south of Kendal in Cumbria and is one of the country’s leading providers of Outdoor Education courses. We have been running for over 14 years and now boast a provision spanning educational, recreational and qualification courses as well as exciting and adventurous expeditions. We are particularly well known for our specialist courses for adults though now have outdoor provision to meet virtually all needs. We also provide an extensive children's Summer School programme for well over 400 children per summer.

Dallam Outdoors is a free-standing part of Dallam School which usually has over 700 customers, of all ages, across the threshold ever year. Some adults may be put off by the idea of their course being in a school environment – there is no need to worry. Dallam is one of the very few remaining split site schools and has bases at Milnthorpe and at Heversham. The vast majority of the 11 to 16 teaching takes place at the much larger Milnthorpe campus leaving the quiet Heversham venue for the boarding house and Outdoor Education. The site dates back to the 17th century and has a relatively tranquil and collegial atmosphere conducive to study.

Dallam Outdoors is housed in a separate building comprising two very large classrooms, offices, a library and stores. Broadband internet access has been installed for staff and students alike. In addition to this there are further stores holding a huge array of contemporary, specialist equipment for all activities along with two minibuses and four assorted trailers.
